Billing (SaaS)

This page covers billing on the hosted service at openwatch.cloud. Billing applies to the SaaS edition only. If you self-host, you do not use this section; your limits come from your edition and, for Enterprise, from a licence key instead.

Plans and pricing

Open the Pricing page in the app to compare the available plans side by side with their limits and features. Each plan sets caps such as the number of projects and members, and unlocks gated features (see Editions and plan limits).

Your organisation always has exactly one active plan. New organisations start on the essential plan.

Subscribing or changing plan

  1. Open Billing from the account menu.
  2. Review your current plan and live usage (projects and members in use versus the plan limits).
  3. Click Upgrade (or choose a different plan) to start a secure Stripe Checkout session.
  4. Enter your payment details in the Stripe-hosted checkout page.
  5. On success you are redirected back to OpenWatch and the new limits take effect immediately.

Payments are handled by Stripe

OpenWatch never sees or stores your card details. Checkout and the billing portal are hosted by Stripe. OpenWatch only records which plan your organisation is on.

Downgrading

You can move to a lower plan from the same Billing area. If your current usage exceeds the lower plan's limits (for example you have more projects than the target plan allows), reduce usage first, otherwise the change is blocked.

Managing payment method and invoices

Use the Billing portal button to open the Stripe Customer Portal, where you can:

  • update your card or payment method,
  • download past invoices and receipts,
  • see the next renewal date,
  • cancel the subscription.

What happens on payment events

OpenWatch is notified automatically by Stripe when a payment succeeds, a subscription renews, or a plan changes, and updates your active plan and limits accordingly. You do not need to refresh anything manually; the change is applied as soon as the event is processed.

Failed payments

If a renewal payment fails, Stripe retries according to your billing settings. Keep your payment method current in the billing portal to avoid an interruption to your plan.

Self-hosted alternative

Self-hosted deployments do not use Stripe. Community runs on the essential plan, and Enterprise unlocks higher limits with a signed LICENSE_KEY. See Editions and plan limits and Configuration.
